Kavelle

Free MIT-licensed Astro one-page template for interior design and architecture studios, with a full-screen slider and Formgong contact form.

About this template

Kavelle is a free, MIT-licensed one-page Astro template for interior design and architecture studios: a dark full-screen project slider site whose contact form posts directly to the Formgong form backend and needs no server, PHP or serverless function.

What is Kavelle?

Kavelle is a single-page website template built on the Astro framework that compiles to a static site in dist/ via npm run build. All page copy lives in one file, src/content.json, which the template reads to render the slider, project categories, studio philosophy, services, numbers section and contact form. It is published by Formgong, the company behind the form backend the template ships with, and released under the MIT licence with fictional demo content.

What makes Kavelle stand out?

  • Astro static output — the build command npm run build writes a plain static site to dist/, deployable on Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare or any static host; the README ships one-click deploy buttons for all three.
  • Working form without a backend — the contact form posts to https://formgong.com/submit; no PHP and no serverless function are involved.
  • Real server-state handling — success and error states come from the actual Formgong answer, and the page shows the thank-you state only when the response contains a success value of true.
  • Honeypot spam protection — a botcheck field is submitted alongside name, email, phone, service, message and subject.
  • Bundled fonts, no Google Fonts requests — Italiana and DM Sans ship as WOFF2 files (Latin and Latin Extended, 7 font files) under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, with licence texts stored beside the fonts.
  • Single content file — every text of the page, including the form access key under the form.access_key entry, is edited in src/content.json.
  • Sections included — full-screen project slider, project categories, studio philosophy, services, a numbers section, contact form and a privacy page; the layout is Base.astro with 8 components and index.astro as the page.
  • Sample imagery — 13 images in public/img generated with ChatGPT image generation; rooms, buildings and people depicted are fictional.

Who should use Kavelle?

  • Interior design studios: publish a one-page portfolio of rooms and projects with a full-screen slider instead of a multi-page site.
  • Architecture practices: present philosophy, services and a numbers section, then capture enquiries through a form routed to email.
  • Freelance web developers: use the template as a starting point when a client wants a contact form on a static Astro site with no server to maintain.

What can you do with Kavelle?

  • Studio owners: replace the fictional photos in public/img with real project work, rewrite the copy in src/content.json, and ship a live one-page site.
  • Practices collecting leads: connect the form to a Formgong access key so submissions arrive by email, with optional Telegram, Slack or Discord delivery configured on the Formgong side.
  • Developers prototyping a form flow: reuse the honeypot and success/error handling as a reference for a no-backend form in Astro.

How does Kavelle work?

  1. Create a form at formgong.com/new and copy its access key.
  2. Open src/content.json and replace the fk_your_access_key placeholder under form.access_key with that key.
  3. Run npm install, then npm run dev for a local server on port 4321, or npm run build for the static dist/ output.

Pricing

Kavelle itself is free and MIT licensed. Its form backend, Formgong, offers a free plan for creating a form; the template page states no paid tiers or amounts.

FAQ

Is Kavelle free to use?

Yes. Kavelle is released under the MIT licence, copyright Formgong, so you can use and modify it. Demo names, texts and photos are fictional sample content and should be replaced with your own work before launch.

Does the contact form need a backend?

The form posts straight to https://formgong.com/submit, so no backend, PHP or serverless function is required. The page displays a thank-you state only when Formgong responds with a success value of true.

What do I have to configure before the form works?

You need a Formgong access key. Create a form at formgong.com/new, copy the key, and replace the fk_your_access_key placeholder in src/content.json under form.access_key. Every other text on the page lives in the same file.

Which fonts and pages are included?

The template bundles Italiana and DM Sans as WOFF2 files in Latin and Latin Extended, so no requests go to Google Fonts. Pages are the one-page index built from index.astro plus an included privacy page, with a Base.astro layout and 8 components.
