Recipe-focused Ghost theme for food publishers
Taste is a recipe-focused Ghost theme for food publishers that delivers magazine-style section layouts, email signup prompts, and configurable homepage topics.
Taste is a free, open-source theme for the Ghost publishing platform, built by the Ghost Foundation as part of the TryGhost/Themes monorepo. It takes a Ghost site's recipes and regular posts and renders them as a magazine-style publication, complete with newsletter signup prompts and a homepage whose topic sections you can configure. The theme is distributed as a single zip file that you upload through Ghost's Design settings, and it's MIT-licensed with a live demo at taste.ghost.io.
Taste is for food publishers and recipe bloggers who run Ghost and want a magazine-style design without building a custom theme. Food magazine editors can publish recipes and long-form articles with a consistent editorial layout, while independent food bloggers can use the built-in email signup prompts to convert readers into newsletter subscribers and control homepage topics to highlight their best content.
To install, download the theme zip from the GitHub repository, log into Ghost, and upload it in the Design settings area. For development, clone the repo, install dependencies with pnpm install, then run pnpm dev to compile assets and watch for changes. The pnpm zip Gulp task packages the theme into dist/taste.zip for upload.
Yes, Taste is released under the MIT license, so it is free to use, modify, and redistribute. The copyright is held by the Ghost Foundation.
Download the zip from the GitHub repository, log into your Ghost admin panel, go to the Design settings area, and upload the zip file. The theme is applied immediately after upload.
